The Greater Tafila Municipality was established in 1914 AD and is considered one of the oldest municipalities in the Kingdom. It began with the formation of the first municipal council in the Ottoman era, headed by Commander Salem Al-Atiwi, through its accompaniment with the Great Arab Revolution, to stand on the stages of independence with meanings of pride and pride, and the establishment of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Then, it formed a historical turning point in its life by merging and restructuring it. In August 2001, and since then, the municipality has been striving to meet the growing needs of citizens with the increase in population and urban expansion.
