The Amman Municipality is a civil society institution enjoying a legal personality with financial and administrative independence that updates, abolishes and establishes the boundaries of its area under the provisions of the Greater Amman Municipality Law,18,of 2021. It has a border area of 800 km2 and a population of more than 4 million people and is managed by the Municipal Council, which is composed of a number of members determined by the Council of Ministers, with two-thirds of the members directly elected and the remaining third appointed by decision of the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the President.
