Founded in 1978, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation emerged as a non-profit cultural institution, initiated by the Arab Bank, which dedicates a portion of its annual profits to support the foundation. It stands as a testament to the bank’s cultural and social responsibility, focusing on three main pillars: Thought Leadership, Arts and Literature, and Cultural Grants and Innovation. The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation aims to foster innovative ideas through the funding of diverse scientific research areas. It inaugurated the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in 1982 and established the Abdul Hameed Shoman Fund for Scientific Research in 1999. Additionally, the Foundation set up a Cultural Forum in 1986, which has hosted events and activities to bridge the gap between the public and intellectuals, researchers, and scientists.
