Karak Greater Municipality stands as one of the oldest municipalities in the Kingdom, established in 1893 under the Ottoman Vilayets Law of 1887. It holds the distinction of being one of Jordan’s earliest administrative structures. The municipality commenced its operations in its founding year, a remarkable 28 years before the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan.
